Avalanche Pizza: Savor the Best Pizza Experience in Athens, OH

Really good vegan pizza (sans cheese) and a really cool owner who chatted me and my gf up about vegan options and even let us try an item we hadn't ordered which was this really delicious bread knot with a jalapeno dipping sauce. Will definitely go back if I visit again!

Never reviewed a pizza place because pizza is pizza...generally everywhere. This place is delicious. They thoroughly checked our order which was for a large group. One pizza was burned on the edges, but it was a thin crusted one.

Damn good pie. First time there. Did not disappoint. Have it a 7.5 out of 10

Pizza here was really tasty. We had 2 small 10”. One with just sausage and the other was the Avalanche Ranch where I requested to add mushrooms. The avalanche ranch did not have ranch on it so thought there would be a dipping cup but that was not in the box. They also forgot to add the mushrooms. One thing to note, there are only a couple of picnic tables outside but otherwise no seating. With all that said, I’d stop in and eat again as the pizza is very good!

Best pizza in area for thin crust and for cheese sticks, love the pesto sauce. Great desserts they support local and have more topping options than a grocery store. Something for everyone regardless dietary restrictions or wants

I’ve been going to Avalanche Pizza for 14 years and they absolutely the best pizza I’ve ever had. I don’t live in Athens anymore, but anytime I come back to visit I have to get a pizza from Avalanche. The basil pesto and jalapeño dipping sauces are also fantastic. Anytime pizza comes up in conversation I talk about Avalanche and how much I miss being able to order from there anytime. Glad to see that they are still going strong and surprised (but pleased) they opened up the Slice House.

Absolutely love this place! My husband and I go here every time we are in Athens and have never been disappointed. It’s the best pizza around! The staff are always kind and welcoming as well.

Overall a pretty solid pizza place. All of our food was hot & prepared on time. The jalapeno poppers were probably the best thing we got. They were really delicious and had a good balance of bread to filling. The Southeast Engine Delight was a surprise. It was much better than anticipated! It was really flavorful and well seasoned. I love the whole roasted garlic cloves, though I do feel like the potatoes might have been better if they were cut a little smaller. But overall, we were really happy with this one! While we were most excited about the Super Mushroom, this was actually the biggest disappointment for us. Seeing other pictures from reviews, I was looking forward to a pizza coated edge-to-edge in mushrooms. But that wasn't the case. The most unfortunate part was how bland and unseasoned this pizza was. For as much as it has going on, and how good the other items were - this pizza tasted like absolutely nothing at all. I would still be interested in going back sometime & trying some of their other options though!
